A WINCHESTER man has been cleared of drink driving but convicted of unlawfully using a South African licence.
Brett Hall, 46, has been living in the UK since December 2016 and should have got a British licence, a court heard.
But when stopped by police in a 67-reg Audi A5 in College Street, Winchester, on April 21 he was still using one from South Africa.
After initially denying the charge he changed his plea to guilty.
Magistrates in Basingstoke fined him £60 with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
An allegation of driving with excess alcohol was discontinued.
Hall, of Pitt Road, Winchester, denied the allegation that said he had 46 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35.
Magistrates ordered that his legal expenses on that charge be repaid from central funds.
