DRIVERS are being stopped from using a car park exit to allow for "emergency water repairs".
Winchester City Council say they have closed off the Tower Street car park exit "for safety reasons".
A spokesman said: "Signs are in place to point customers to the upper level where they can leave onto Sussex Street. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
According to workmen at the site, the work is being carried out on a burst water main and expect it to take a few hours to fix.
A Hampshire County Council spokesperson added: “Following a mains water leak at the exit of the basement car park at Elizabeth II Court in Winchester, Southern Water is currently carrying out emergency repairs and pumping the excess water away from the site. Motorists are being directed to other exit points in the car park.”
