THE Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Frank Pearson, and the Mayoress Mrs Anne Pearson visited Osborne School to wave off the children and staff as they headed off for the traditional day out at Marwell Zoo.

The trip was organised and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Winchester as part of the National Rotary Kids Out Day which allows 25,000 children across the country to have a special day out.

The sun shone throughout the day and the children spotted many of their favourite animals as they toured the site and picnicked on the grass.

The Zoo was “taken over” for the day by Rotary clubs from around the District accompanying groups of children from all over Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Through volunteering their skills, time and resources, Rotarians make a positive difference to the lives of others.

Clubs work tirelessly to raise funds for local good causes as well as overseas, placing them right at the heart of their local communities.

Projects include organising and supervising community events, promoting the achievements of young people, helping those who are disadvantaged or disabled, coordinating educational programmes and working in partnership with local businesses and charities.
