A SCHOOL has been forced to close today after a burst water main caused disruption near Winchester.
Itchen Abbas Primary School said it took the decision after losing its water supply.
In a statement on their website, a spokesman said: "Apologies for the inconvenience this will cause but we hope to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday). Have a safe, fun day in the sun!"
A Southern Water Spokesman added shortly after: "We are aware of a burst in the SO21 area near Winchester. We have re-routed water on our networks and all customers were back in supply by 8:30 am, although there may be isolated incidents of low pressure.
"We believe that water was also restored at Itchen Abbas Primary School.
"Our incident team is in the area and will be working to fix the burst as quickly as possible. We apologise to anyone who has been inconvenienced."
