Sparsholt (234-9) lost to Bournemouth II (235-8).

Sparsholt fell to their third successive Southern League defeat after a below par performance against Bournemouth IIs.

Sparsholt looked well placed at 101 for 1 in the 20th over, but lost their momentum as prolific teenage prodigy Tom Viljoen (74) was dismissed soon after Dave Gough (25) and skipper Andy Heyes.

As the Sparsholt middle order consolidated, Coombs' slow left arm spin contained them well, and only some late hitting by Adrian Birkett (55) and Mark Zawadski (30no) enabled Sparsholt to reach an inadequate looking 234 for 9.

Bournemouth started their reply slowly against Zawadski (pictured right) and super vet Mike Ball, recalled to cover holiday absences, and Sparsholt looked to be in control with the visitors still needing 120 when the sixth wicket fell, spectacularly run out by a direct hit by Ball. The absence of two regular bowlers meant that Sparsholt couldn't capitalise on the earlier good work by Zawadski and Roger Aitkens who each took two wickets, and Kennedy (48) and Smith (47) saw Bournemouth home, Sparsholt conceding a woeful 56 extras!

Sparsholt IIs recorded an excellent win at Gosport. The home side scored 215 with George Daniels taking a best 7 for 42. Sparsholt reached 216 for 4, David Coultard making 45 and Rob Carslake a fine 73 not out.

Sparsholt IIIs just failed to chase 232 against Linkenholt, falling 15 runs short, Toby Stannard (60), David Hargreaves (30) and Jon Vokes (29) the main contributors.

On Sunday, Sparsholt romped home with nine wickets and nearly ten overs to spare as Lewis Dunford scored a stylish 73 not out and Dave Gough blugeoned 175 against Trojans as the pair shared an opening partnership of 255 chasing the 269 scored by Trojans.
