PARAMEDICS have taken a person to hospital after a two-vehicle crash at a notorious Winchester junction.

Ambulance crews came across the accident at the Cart and Horses junction at 2.38pm and stopped to assist those involved.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed four people were assessed by paramedics at the scene, adding: "Two were uninjured, one had minor injuries and was treated at the scene and the final patient, with minor injuries, required further treatment at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital."

A spokesman for Hampshire police confirmed they were also called to the scene of the crash, involving a Ford Fiesta and a Skoda Kodiaq.

The junction, where the A33 meets the B3047, has been the subject of a long-running campaign to improve safety following a number of accidents.

As previously reported, Hampshire County County has announced its intention to reduce the speed limit around the junction from 50mph to 40mph.
