WINCHESTER air cadets came together for a fun-filled recruitment day in a bid to boost numbers and raise awareness of the group.

The event, organised by Rachael and David Taylor, saw the cadets take part in a range of activities demonstrating the different aspects of cadet life at their HQ in Hillier Way, Abbots Barton.

These included drills, drone flying, first aid demonstrations and bridge building, which proved popular with both cadets and visitors.

The event was attended by all of the groups 37 cadets, ranging in age from the youngest at 12 to 18 years old.

Winchester MP Steve Brine also went to the event and had a great time trying some of the cadets home cooked rations.

Civilian Instructor Rachael Taylor said that the event was a resounding success: “Every single cadet went home with a smile on their face asking if we can do it again.

She added: “From a member of staff perspective, that’s the best possible outcome and because of this we have decided to make it an annual event.”
