TK MAXX was due to open its doors to shoppers this morning after months of refurbishment at the Winchester shopping centre where it is based.

The high street fashion chain, which has created 32 jobs, is due to open its doors at 9am today, joining fellow fashion brands Primark and New Look at The Brooks Shopping Centre.

However, it still has several long-term empty units and has only been fully let for around a year since opening in 1991.

TK Maxx’s arrival forms part of a £1 million revamp at The Brooks to boost its appeal to shoppers.

The shopping centre is currently surrounded by scaffolding for work to revive the appearance, although The Brooks is remaining tight-lipped about how the end product will look.

Following the ribbon cutting, The Brooks will be hosting a fashion-focused carnival with free professional stylist and make-up services on Saturday, between 10am and 4pm.

Shoppers can drop in and receive personal style consultation from professionals, with no appointment is necessary.

Each shopper will be handed a style guide to note down their fashion likes and dislikes, day-to-day routines and where they usually shop to help experts hand-pick specific items.
