KINGS Worthy Primary School is celebrating success after making it to the Southern Junior Regional Finals of Rock Challenge, a national performing arts contest.

Beating off tough opposition from six other competing schools, Kings Worthy Primary won the qualifying heat at The Guildhall, Southampton with its dance adaptation of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

A team of 100 children performed and helped as stage crew and will now compete in April in the regional finals of the competition.

Kings Worthy Primary performance co-ordinator Ellie Ashton said: “We are over the moon to have got so far in the competition. Our children and staff worked really hard to give the performance their all and that definitely impressed the judges. We can’t wait for the final!”

The annual Rock Challenge sees school and college pupils from across the Hampshire battle it out for prestigious titles.

More than 40 schools took part in the “achieve the extraordinary” six-day event – the pinnacle of months of dedicated rehearsals.
