Southern Electric Premier League Division 3.

Sparsholt (206) lost to Totton & Eling II (207-2).

South African teenager Nico Raubenheimer scored his first century on English soil as Totton & Eling halted Sparsholt's Southern Electric Premier League Division 3 promotion drive at Locks Lane.

The 18-year-old from Johannesburg hit an unbeaten 123 as Totton beat their hosts by eight wickets.

Sparsholt, who had won seven of their previous nine games, were dismissed for 206, with Mark Stone (56), Carl Nichols (35) and Tim Simmonite (30) top scoring.

Dave Adams (4-39) was the most successful bowler for Totton, whose victory bid was launched by an opening stand of 95 between Jamie Bennett and the young South African. Rauren Heimer then shared a 110-run stand with Ricky Rawlins (44) as Totton won with three overs to spare.

With leaders Hook & Newnham once again marooned by wet weather, Old Tauntonians & Romsey closed the gap at the top.

They won by 70 runs at Gosport Borough after Charlie Forward (51), Mike Trodd (40) and Keith Trodd (39) had pointed the visitors to 247 for 7.

Gosport were never in the hunt after a three wicket spell by Steve Smith (3-30) and closed at 177 for 5, with John Adams 54 not out.

Hartley Wintney's promotion drive was checked by a 30-run defeat by unpredictable Hambledon.

Australian teenager Steven Melenko (51) and man of the match Darren Hewitt (35) top scored in the Dons 214 all out.

Richard Norris (52) responded for Hartley Wintney, whose challenge wilted against a five wicket spell by Hewitt (5-16) and Mackie Hobson's earlier new ball spell of 3 for 41. They were all out for 184.

Easton & Martyr Worthy enjoyed the rare privilege of fielding a near full strength side and piled up 285 for 5 against South Wilts II.

The heavy scoring came from Shaun Green (82) and elder brother Steve (67), with David Birch (45) having a helping hand.

Never at the races, South Wilts for whom teenager Simon Beetham took 3 for 59, closed at 136 for 7.

Skipper Andy Collins and former Calmore Sports all-rounder Jamie Winters led the way as Paultons secured a 30-run victory over winless Andover 2nd XI at Ower.

Collins (75) and second wicket pair John Robinson (48) and Jamie Cooper (44) led the way for Paultons, whose 247 for 7 was boosted by a late flurry from Peter Lamb (36no).

Winters took 4 for 69 as Andover made 217 for 8 in reply.
