SIR - Up to now I have managed to restrain my anger over what is happening to our library service in Hampshire - and particularly in Winchester - but the latest development is the last straw.
To suggest as Cllr Margaret Snaith (Chronicle, July 12), that corporate clothing will not only identify staff but help to project a modern image and to build a sense of pride in the job, is downright insulting.
The more so as the staff concerned will have had their jobs downgraded in an exercise clearly designed for cost cutting - and, incidentally, will the uniforms also be paid for out of the already depleted bookfund?
Elizabeth Bewick (county library staff, retired) Hyde Church Path, Winchester.
