Musicians in Southampton have joined forces to launch a new record label and online shop that will be run on a co-operative basis.
The first of its kind in Southampton, Sotones aims to bring together local artists and bands to produce and distribute quality music at affordable prices.
Driven by the do-it-yourself ethos, the collective hope to make waves with a series of forthcoming record releases.
Jo Parker, one of the founders of Sotones, said: "Sotones is a co-operative record label run by artists for fans. A lot of people have lost sight of what music should be about in this fame-obsessed culture we live in. We want to put the soul back into music so we're pulling together to make a genuinely independent local label a reality. These are really exiting tracks and we can't wait to get the discs out there and onto people's stereos."
