A MOB of mischievous witches and wizards swarmed The Mid Hants Railway Watercress Line, in Alresford at the weekend to celebrate its popular Harry Potter themed Wizard Weekend for Halloween.

This year’s family event saw thousands of children don their best fancy dress to enjoy unlimited rides on the Wizard Express stream train in Hogwarts-style carriages and pose for selfies on the ‘Harry Potter’ footbridge where Harry received his Hogwarts Express ticket in the film.

To celebrate 20 years since the first Harry Potter book was released, fans of the films even got to meet Gringott’s goblins actors Michael Henbury and Brian Wheeler.

Children of all ages enjoyed a magical two days filled with creepy crawlies, magic tricks, Harry Potter-themed craft activities, rides on the miniature railway and encounters with a real owl. They also learnt how to make a witch’s broomstick.
