A WINCHESTER charity has launched a campaign to buy a defibrillator for the city High Street.
Action Hampshire wants to raise £1,500 by September 19 for the life-saving machine.
The machines if used within three minutes of a cardiac arrest can improve a person's chance of survival by as much as 70 per cent.
The charity, based on the corner of High Street and Staple gardens, has launched a crowdfunding campaign and said: "We noticed there is a lack of community access defibrillators in our area, so we've decided to crowdfund to buy one to put on the outside of our building for other local businesses and the general public to use in an emergency and help save lives."
The cost of a defibrillator is around £1,670.
