A MAN was treated by paramedics after being rescued following a fire at a Winchester sheltered housing block.
Firefighters were called to Mildmay Court in Eastgate Street last night after the alarm went off in the building.
On arrival they rescued a man who was on the floor in one of the flats, and he was then in the care of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS).
A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 7.48pm, one crew from Winchester attended.
"It was a residential alarm that was sounding.
"The ambulance service had been called and the occupant had fallen and left something on the stove.
"The fumes were from an overheated pan. The man was conscious and breathing, he was given some treatment and handed over to SCAS."
