QUADRAPLEGIC sailor Geoff Holt has finally been able to resume his attempt to sail around the UK after being weather-bound in Wales.
Mr Holt, 41, from Shedfield, is paralysed from the chest down and embarked on his 'personal Everest' challenge to be the first disabled person to sail around the UK in May.
He reached Abersoch three weeks ago but became stuck there when the weather took a turn for the worse.
Mr Holt, who's wife Elaine and five-year-old son Timothy are among his land based back-up crew, set sail from Abersoch on Wednesday (July 11) and made good progress through Bardsley Sound, Caernarfon Bay Morfa Nefyn and Holyhead.
He said on his blog: "We're off at last, after 23 days weather bound we finally managed to restart our epic journey and the feeling of elation amongst all the crew is almost tangible."
