New manager, Andy Leader, has continued to build the Winchester City squad, which will make its debut in the International Tournament on July 20.

Andy signed 17 players in his first week - surely some sort of record - and has since added to that with the key signings of Adam Lang from New Milton Town and Danny Potter, who scored AFC Totton's goal in the FA Vase Final at Wembley in May.

In all, Leader has signed eight players from New Milton Town (formerly known as Lymington & New Milton) - Andy Bayliss, Matt Bowler, Andy Darnton, Dave Allen, Sam Lockyer, Adam George and Mark Lilley in addition to Lang.

Matt Czastka, Lloyd Jenvey, Tom Stone, Shaun Clouder and Reza Sotoudeh all played for Leader at Christchurch. Two players, Larbi Mekchiche and Matt Freeman, have been brought in from Conference South side, Dorchester Town and the new boss has also re-signed four players who were at the Denplan last season - Melvin Rogers, Tom Biggs, Warren Bentley and Mark Wells.

"I'm over the moon", said Leader, "To sign so many players in such a short space of time is nothing short of miraculous. It is a statement of intent. All the lads from New Milton have Southern League experience, the lads who played for me at Christchurch are good Wessex League players, and the two from Dorchester have played at a higher level".

Leader will be assisted by Micky Read, who worked as his assistant for five years at BAT. The boss has also recruited Jimmy Ball - son of the late soccer legend Alan - as first team coach. Ball junior also coached Christchurch during Leader's time there and the City chief said: "Jimmy is a UEFA A qualified coach - you don't get any better than that."
