A low scoring but closely contested Igglesden Cup final took place on Monday evening. The final, kindly hosted by St Cross and sponsored by Wilds Sports, was between Wickham, who overcame Owslebury in their semi-final, and Compton & Chandlers Ford who defeated Easton.

Wickham batted first, and recovered from the early loss of opener M Raven to reach a total of 86 for 7. This was mainly due to R Higgins who top scored with 22.

Most of the damage was done by R Wilson who finished with figures of 3 for 25.

Wickham's Total never looked to be enough as Compton's openers P Pritchard 14 and S Parry 18 got the innings off to a good start.

However once the first wicket fell Compton's batsmen kept finding ways of getting out. M Giles was Wickham's best bowler finishing with figures of 2 for 25.

Some tight bowling and athletic fielding in the latter overs from Wickham, ensured a nerve wracking finish. However, Compton eventually reached the target with four balls to spare winning by two wickets.

Park to play Winchester in Tichborne final.

Hursley Park brushed aside local rivals Sparsholt at the Quarters on Monday night to reach the final of the Tichborne Trophy.

The home side were invited to bat first and rattled up 123 for 6 in just 17 overs, the visitors being a little slow with their over rate. Paul Davies top scored with 39 and skipper Jimmy Taylor (17) gave good support, while Mark Zawadski claimed 2 for 34.

Sparsholt struggled in reply and stuttered to 86 for 8, Darrell Steele (3-23) and Farhan Bashir (2-22) being the most successful bowlers.

In the other semi-final on Monday night St Cross lost to a very strong Winchester side.

Hursley will meet Winchester KS in next Monday's (16th) final at Easton (6.15pm).
