Having conquered high winds and showers, the sun finally shone for the Winchester Archery Club after five members (pictured) overcame weather conditions and scooped awards in the archery competition hosted by Southampton Archery Club.

All junior members attending took medals with Sam Gough leading the field taking gold in the Short Windsor round with targets up to 50 yards.

In the Junior Windsor section, Sarah Colgrave took bronze shooting targets up to 40 yards in the girls' section and in the Short Junior Windsor, Alex King took silver shooting targets up to 30 yards, including the archery colour prize for accuracy.

In the same section, Fergus Ward took bronze, also clinching a colour prize for accuracy in his first ever competition.

Not to be outdone, senior member Martin Gough, took bronze in the Windsor shooting targets up to an impressive 80 yards.

Club coach, Cyril Allen commented: "The enthusiasm of junior members coming through the club is amazing and I am delighted with the commitment they have shown. More club awards, I'm sure, will come our way."
