A HAMPSHIRE flute club have made it through to the final of a national competition.
The Funky Flute Club, made up of young flute players aged eight to 18, entered the FluteWise / ABRSM competition and have got through to the final round in London on July 16.
They are now trying to raise the £500 needed to pay for the group to travel to London and compete.
Funky Flute Club was established in 2010 and welcomes flute players from grade 1 up.
They rehearse weekly at Durley Primary School, with players from Upham, Durley and Fair Oak.
In the past they have performed a musical fairytale to raise money for Naomi House Children's Hospice, as well as playing at Upham Summer Fayre, performances at Southampton Music Festival and Music for Youth as well as carolling in Durley and Winchester.
They will be performing at Eastleigh bandstand on Sunday, June 25 from 11am-12pm where they will be collecting donations from passers-by.
On July 1 they are performing at Hedge End Carnival Arena, as well as having a stall selling cakes and treats to raise money.
They will also be busking in Winchester on July 8 from 1.30pm-3pm.
Non-musical fundraising includes a car wash at Upham Village Hall and a cake sale at the hall on July 11 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
