ANOTHER Winchester food outlet has closed.

Maison Blanc in the High Street has shut its doors, with just a notice left on the door notifying customers of the closure.

The news comes after the Chronicle reported how Earl of Sandwich in Jewry Street is closing, and Gourmet Pizza in The Square also closed its doors.

The notice reads “Farewell.Today was our last day and Maison Blanc is turning another page.

"From the entire team we would like to say a gigantic “Thank you” to all our customers over the last two decades.

“A special thank you to our ever-faithful regulars for their consistent returning custom; without you, the place would have never been the same.

“It has been a great adventure for us and a delight to have met you all over the years.

“To all, we wish you all the best in the future.

“Merci et au revoir”

The news will not come as a surprise as its future had been in the balance.

In January the Chronicle spoke to staff at the French-style shop, who confirmed they are undergoing a period of “consultation” amid speculation that the store could be one of those that will be shut.

In September last year, the Evening Standard reported around 300 jobs are at risk at Maison Blanc after the owner of the upmarket patisserie chain launched a review of its store portfolio.

Property agent Davis Coffer Lyons was hired to look at the future of 13 stores which includes its Winchester outlet.
