A WINCHESTER Prison inmate has received a jail term for possessing a mobile phone.
Christopher Byles, 26, now serving at HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire, admitted having the device in the prison on December 9.
Magistrates in Basingstoke jailed him for eight weeks, consecutive to his current term, and ordered he pay an £80 victim surcharge.
The issue of mobile phones in Winchester Prison has been in the news recently with allegations that prison officers have smuggled the devices into the prison for inmates.
