THE M3 has come to a standstill after a major car crash this morning.
Emergency services are currently on the scene of a smash involving three vehicles between junction 13 and 12 for Eastleigh.
Two lanes have been closed and a red traffic alert is set to last for over two hours.
Queues are tailing back five miles to junction 4 of the M27.
The number of passengers and their injuries are not yet known but a spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they were on the scene with ambulance crews and firefighters.
He said: “We were called at 9.50am this morning to a three vehicle collision and the incident is ongoing.”
Highways England have said they are expected the incident to take up to two hours to be cleared completely and warn motorists to expect delays.
