“AN incredibly selfless act” was how Natasha Banner’s sponsored head shave was described by school staff.
Natasha, 16, a Year 11 pupil at Kings’ School in Winchester, has shaved her long blond locks to raise more than £1,000 for charity.
She has cerebral palsy and spent time past-operation in a wheelchair last autumn.
It opened her eyes to the reduced mobility so she decided to raise money for Whizz Kids which helps customise wheelchairs.
Natasha had her head completely shaved in front of 330 fellow pupils at a school assembly last Tuesday.
Bobby Poll, head of pupil support, said: “Being in a wheelchair gave Natasha a different perception. Normally she does not experience that, so she decided she wanted to raise money for wheelchairs for disabled children.
“It is an incredibly selfless act for a young girl, when youngsters are so image conscious about everything. To do something so extreme to benefit other young people is pretty special.”
Natasha, a former Harestock Primary School pupil, said: “It’s weird but I really like it. My friends are really supportive; they came with me to ask permission.
“I’m allowed to wear a wig or a hat but for the next couple of weeks I’m going to go as I am to show people I have done it.”
