MARWELL Zoo has been recognised for its contribution to tourism at the Beautiful South Awards.
It won silver in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year and Tourism Event of the Year categories earlier this month. The ceremony, at the Grand Brighton Hotel, recognised outstanding visitor experiences at tourist attractions across the South of England.
The Event of the Year award was presented to the zoo for its Rise of the Dinosaurs event. Marwell was transformed into a Jurassic jungle with the arrival of ‘animatronic’ dinosaurs, a show and special pre-historic talks.
This is the second year Marwell has won the silver for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.
James Cretney, zoo chief executive, said: “I am delighted that we have been awarded silver in two categories. This reflects the enormous amount of hard work the Marwell staff put into developing exciting and innovative events to enthral and captivate our visitors.“
