1. The Winchester March - Saturday

Hundreds are expected to take to the streets protesting proposed developments including Silver Hill (pictured), Chesil Street, Station Approach and River Park Leisure Centre. Organisers say Winchester City Council is not listening to the public over schemes which could threaten the future of the city. The march starts at North Walls Recreation Ground at 11.15am and will pass through the city centre to the Guildhall for a series of speeches.

2. Celebrate the life and work of one of the world's finest songwriters - Saturday

Hampshire Chronicle: Leonard Cohen, BIC

Leonard Cohen's 80th birthday, which he celebrated this year, will be marked by Winchester University with an all-day conference on his life and work. The keynote speaker at Visions from the Tower of Song is Cohen's authorised biographer, Sylvie Simmons, who will share insights from interviews and archive footage. The event runs from 9am to 4pm in The Stripe, King Alfred Campus. Tickets are available here.

3. Test your detective skills at Body Overboard- The Murder of an English Actress – Saturday

Retired police officer Paul Stickler will look back on a historic murder mystery where guests can test their detective skills. Find out about an actress who went missing in 1947, as she set sail for Southampton from Cape Town, and enjoy a question and answer session afterwards. The talk starts at 7pm at Winchester Discovery Centre. Tickets cost £10 and proceeds go to Age UK Winchester.

4. Dogs Don't Do Ballet at the Theatre Royal - Saturday

Watch Biff the costumed dog as he practices his pirouettes with Miss Polly’s ballet class. The musical features music by Fauré, Elgar and Tchaikovsky and is a great introduction to classical music for children. There are showings at 2pm and 4.30pm. Tickets are £13.50.

5. Burlesque and cabaret at Winchester Guildhall - Saturday

Join Hundred Watt Club for a rip roaring night of entertainment. Hosted by Mr Meredith, with burlesque from international showgirl Vicky Butterfly, Glory Pearl, Tabitha Taboo and others. 6. Jim Davidson fights back at Southampton Guildhall

7. Space Santa saves Christmas - Saturday

Go along to the Winchester Science Centre tomorrow for the first showing of Space Mission for Santa, at 11.30am. The story sees Santa Blast off into space and help save Christmas. The show includes film and audience participation and is great for small children.

8. Reclaim the night from sexual harrassment - Saturday

A Reclaim the Night march in 2012

Rally, sing, chant and dance your way through Southampton city centre to demonstrate your right to walk the streets at night free from sexual violence, street harassment and assault. The march will be led by a women's-only block, open to all self-defining women, followed by a mixed march open to all genders. Speakers include poets Jude Orlando Enjolras and Alice Denny. The demonstration starts from Southampton Guildhall Square at 7pm.

9. Moulettes at The Railway - Friday

Moulettes will squeeze all their kit onto the Railway stage tonight as part of their Constellations Part 2 tour. Their third studio album, Constellations, was recorded in churches, studios, tunnels, workshops and bedrooms around Brighton, Lewes and Wales. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12 on the door.
