CHILDREN at a Winchester school have been taking part in creative workshops designed to boost self-confidence and imagination.
Weeke Primary School children took part in a day of producing stories and drawings, working with professional publishers, as part of their extra-curricular activities.
Headteacher Michelle Loughrey said: “The children were really inspired by the assembly that The Chocolate Muffin Club delivered. Over 80 pupils were interested in writing their own books so we are running four courses.
“This is a great opportunity for children to take ownership of their writing, to write for pleasure and to see their work professionally published.”
A spokesperson for the publishers, Chocolate Muffin, said: “Our aim at Chocolate Muffin is to stimulate young imaginations through writing and illustration. Our workshops strive to boost confidence and self-esteem as well as encourage creative writing.
“The pupils at Weeke Primary school have not only embraced the opportunity of participating in our workshops, they have attended each week with enthusiasm, wild imaginations and willingness to work hard after a long day at school. They come bursting with ideas, leave popping with confidence and are a pleasure to teach.”
Parents, family and friends of the school will be invited to the celebratory launch which will showcase the children’s talents.
Six-year-old student, Danny, said: “It’s brilliant! It’s really good, I love writing my story.”
