ROAD users are advised to keep their travelling to a minimum when major roadworks take place on the outskirts of Winchester next week.

From Monday night (November 25), resurfacing works begin on the junction connecting the M3, A34 and Easton Lane which will last until approximately Friday morning.

The scheme is being carried out as part of the A34 Easton Lane improvement scheme which involves upgrades to traffic lights and the widening of some lanes.

The works will result in the following roads being closed for four nights:

• A272 Spitfire Link

• M3 north and southbound slip roads

• Easton Lane

• A34 between Bullington Cross (A303) and the junction

• A34 northbound from the junction to A272

• Three Maids Hill

• A33 Winchester by-pass between the junction

• B3047 London Road.

Diversion routes will be in place for the following destinations:

• Local traffic for Easton Lane, the A33, the A31 and the A34 will be directed through Winchester town centre on the B3330 Bar End Road, B3047 London Road, B3420 Andover Road and Easton Lane.

• Due to a bridge height restriction on the B3047 London Road, large vehicles travelling to or from the A33 (Kings Worthy) will be directed via Alresford and the A31.

• Vehicles travelling between the M3 and A34 will be diverted along the A303 and M3.
