A WALK through Winchester in October could throw up some surprises.

As Hallowe'en approaches, Winchester's tourist guides will be offering tours featuring ghosts and ghastly goings on around the city.

Tours will visit places where spooky sightings and strange things are said to have happened, including the Square, Colebrook Street and the Manor of Godbegot. Visitors will hear about ghostly riders on horseback and people walking through walls, not to mention the city's many secret tunnels and passages.

Dressing up for the tour, which takes about an hour-and-a-half, is positively encouraged.

The tours will start from the Tourist Information Centre in the Broadway, at 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 30, and Thursday 31. There is also an extra, adults-only tour on October 31 at 8.30pm.

Tickets can be ordered by calling 01962 840500.
