A WINCHESTER school-leaver has been offered a job at one of the biggest online gaming networks in the world.
Daniel Radford, 18, from Alresford Road near Alresford Meadow, designed websites and animated cartoons on YouTube as a bit of fun until he caught the eye of Machinima-an online network entertainment channel with over 1.5 million subscribers worldwide.
Having finished his A levels at Peter Symonds College in film, maths, music technology and physics last month, the ex-Kings’ School student said he was astounded to be approached by such a reputable firm.
He said: “I applied to them about it, in the hope I would be offered a sponsor. I was quite amazed really because I didn’t think my channel was big enough but they clearly thought it was.”
A self-proclaimed fan of the game Burnout Revenge, Dan lives with his parents Michelle and Simon, and is getting ready to relocate to Bristol to study web design and animation at the University of West England.
He said: “This will be increasing all my online activity. Long term I hope to work in animation, something in games perhaps.”
Aiming to work from his new halls of residence, Dan will get a share for every hit his channel receives and now considers himself something of a ‘machinimator’ as he works on his latest series, the Two Pirates.
