A MAN from Ampfield was found dead in bed by his mother, an inquest heard.

Jonathan Poynter, 42, died in his sleep on February 13, having suffered all his life from severe epilepsy, the coroner’s court was told.

At the time of his death he had been living with his parents in Pound Lane.

A pathologist’s report read out at the hearing on Winchester on Wednesday (July 31) concluded that he died from unexplained death syndrome, the risk of which is greatly increased in those with epilepsy.

Grahame Short, coroner for central Hampshire, recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
