A WINCHESTER charity is one of just a handful to benefit from the opening of a Hampshire water garden.

The family support charity, Home-Start, will receive money raised from entry to a special opening of Longstock Park Water Garden on Sunday, August 18.

Home-Start’s Alison Taylor said: “We are very privileged to have been chosen, as it means that we will receive the entry fees from that day.

“We will need to man the car park, entry desk and provide stewards around the park, but as you can imagine our volunteers are all lining up to spend an afternoon in this lovely place.”

The garden at Longstock is part of the Leckford Estate and is part of the John Lewis Partnership, which has given its permission for this opening. The garden will be open from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday, August 18.
