HESKETH Muriel Irene 9th May 1933 13th March 2023 Born in Hammersmith Hospital, London on the 9th May 1933, to Sidney and Ellen Swales. Muriel and her older sister Diane grew up in Lambeth, London. After leaving school at 16, Muriel travelled Europe as an au pair often accompanying children back and forth to England to boarding school. In April 1957, aged 24, Muriel successfully completed her training as an Air Stewardess for British Overseas Airway Corporation, flying routes to West Africa and New York before giving up to get married on 16th August 1958. After a two year posting in Singapore where her third child was born, Muriel returned to the UK with her family and settled in Winchester. In 2011, Muriel moved from her home in Winchester to settle in Alresford where she enjoyed a quieter life. One of her favourite outings was to visit the ducks on the river near her house. Muriel is remembered for her love of geraniums, languages, teddies and Marks and Spencer digestive biscuits! Muriel is pre-deceased by her eldest daughter Nicola and grandson Harry and survived by daughters Anna and Rebecca, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Service at Christ Church, Winchester on Friday 21st April at 11.00 am. Flowers welcome and to be delivered to Richard Steel & Partners 12-14 City Road, Winchester SO23 8SD.
