COMEDY fans can find the perfect tonic for "the most miserable month of the year" in Colwyn Bay this weekend.

The Station’s regular comedy night Stand-up at the Seaside returns with its first show of the year on Saturday, January 26.

This month’s headline act is Steve Harris, a regular face at Manchester’s Comedy Store making his debut at The Station and one of the most sought-after acts on the circuit.

Having supported the likes of Johnny Vegas, Peter Kay and Lee Evans, Harris comes highly recommended from the heavyweights of comedy.

Support comes from the highly-rated Phil Chapman, a master of the carefully crafted gags, to his engaging anecdotes, and rising star Mo Haroon who has been the finalist in several national comedy competitions, including the prestigious Bath New Act of the Year Competition 2018.

As ever, the returning symposium of stand-up will be guided by resident MC Dave Rothnie, and there is an audience joke competition with the chance to win a bottle of wine.

Rothnie said: “January is one of the most miserable months of the year, compounded by the fact that it also a time when we try to tackle New Year Resolutions. Comedy exists to wash the blues away, so whatever it is you’re giving up and cutting down on, give yourself a break and a laugh.

"My advice for anyone currently undergoing a gruelling exercise programme – leave it until February, which is the shortest month of the year. And remember, rehab’s for quitters.”

To welcome the return of the best in live comedy at the Station, join the comics on Saturday, January 26 at 8pm.

Tickets are £12.50, to reserve contact the venue on 01492 532818 or the host on dcrothnie@gmail.com.
