TCHAIKOVSKY'S most ambitious opera Prestatyn, Rhyl and Llandudno Junction.

The Queen of Spades screens live from the Royal Opera House to the Scala, Vue and Cineworld Llandudno on Tuesday, January 22.

Based on the short story by Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, the Queen of Spades sees the penniless soldier Gherman has fallen in love with Liza, even though she is engaged to his friend Yeletsky.

Gherman learns that Liza's grandmother the Countess knows a winning three-card formula. Gherman determines to wrest the secret from the Countess, gain a fortune through gambling and marry Liza.

Containing some of the composer's greatest music, this opera is a powerful study of destructive obsession and is a truly eye opening production for any aficionado of supernaturally stirring set pieces.

To catch Queen of Spades, head to Prestatyn, Rhyl or Llandudno Junction at 6.45pm.

Tickets are £15 for the Scala from merlinprestatyn.admit-one.eu, £19.74 from myvue.com or £18.80 from booking.cineworld.co.uk.
