Britain’s Got Talent contestants Boyband have said they don’t care about winning the talent contest, they just want to inspire other people to dance.
The five-piece dance group – Jaih Betote, Dylan Mayoral, Mikey Ureta, Corey Culverwell and Mike Mcneish – went straight through to the final of the ITV show at the weekend when hosts Ant & Dec pressed their Golden Buzzer after being impressed by their audition.
The lads had previously made it through to the final of Sky dance contest Got To Dance.
Mikey said: “It was a completely different experience, so trying to compare it is impossible. Obviously, being able to do finals for another show, it does help, but it isn’t an advantage. It makes us more nervous I would say, because we have to beat what we did last time.
Dylan agreed: “I don’t think you can compare Got To Dance and Britain’s Got Talent, they’re two very different shows, the requirements for them, I feel, are very different, the target audience is very different. They’re just different.”
Corey said: “We just aim to inspire, we don’t enter competitions to win or anything like that, we literally just want to get ourselves out there, and Got To Dance and Britain’s Got Talent can do that for us.
Dylan added: “Winning is the bonus, but inspiring is the main thing. In our audition we got a lot of comments saying, ‘That routine made me want to dance again!’ And a lot of people have said it, and for us that is mission accomplished.”
