AUTUMN Season 2018 at Turner Sims Southampton is now officially open for booking, and packed with renowned artists presenting a glittering array of classical, jazz, world and folk music.

To coincide with the new season Turner Sims is pleased to announce three new partnerships – viola player Lawrence Power becomes an Associate Artist, SÓN (Southampton’s professional orchestra) is welcomed as Orchestra in Association and Edition Records, who celebrate their tenth anniversary in 2018, become Turner Sims’ first Associate Label.

The Piano Series features Christian Blackshaw performing with soloists from one of the world’s great orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic, the legendary Alfred Brendel talking about his renowned career, and fortepianist Kristian Bezuidenhout with the Chiaroscuro Quartet.

Part of a wide-ranging Classical Season, SÓN, alongside Lawrence Power, explore The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, the first in a three-part series focussing on the composer on the 60th anniversary of his death.

Rising star, classical saxophonist and 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist Jess Gillam visits, fresh from her appearance at the BBC’s Last Night at the Proms, and 17th century Venice is brought to life with The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble.

World-class jazz includes Mercury-nominated Laura Jurd’s Dinosaur, playing music from their new album Wonder Trail, and Danish bandleader Kathrine Windfeld, one of Europe’s rising stars, with her big band. Tord Gustavsen and his trio make a welcome return, the combined talents of Bugge Wesseltoft, Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund unite as the new supergroup Rymden, and renowned vocalist and broadcaster China Moses performs high-voltage jazz, soul and blues.
