THE first in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2018 Season of live broadcasts direct from Stratford-upon-Avon to the big screen at the Regent in Christchurch will be the Bard’s greatest romantic comedy about unrequited love.

Twelfth Night will be will be on screen at the Centre especially for Valentine’s Day on Wednesday 14 February 7pm.

Twelfth Night stars Kara Tointon ('Mr Selfridge', 'The Sound of Music Live', 'Strictly Come Dancing') and Adrian Edmonson ('The Young Ones').

Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy which is both hilarious and heart-breaking. Two twins are separated in a shipwreck and forced to fend for themselves in a strange land. The first twin, Viola disguises herself as a boy and becomes a page to Duke Orsino. However, Viola falls in love with Orsino who has actually lost his heart to Olivia, who in turn ends up falling for the “page boy” Viola. Enter Sebastian, who has survived the shipwreck and who is the spitting image of his twin sister. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love.

Where music is the food of love, and nobody is quite what they seem, anything proves possible, not least when Viola meets the drunken Sir Toby Belch!

Christopher Luscombe, Director of the ‘glorious’ (Daily Telegraph) Love’s Labour’s Lost and Much Ado About Nothing (2014 and 2016), returns to the Royal Shakespeare Company to tackle Shakespeare’s greatest comedy, a brilliantly bittersweet account of "the whirligig of time".
