PERFORMING arts school Roynon Dance Swanmore smashed their charity fundraising record with three performances of Mary Poppins.

A "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" total of £4,197.36 was raised as students performed to sell-out audiences at the Berry Theatre, Hedge End.

After singing, dancing and acting their way through the heart warming adaptation of Mary Poppins all profits were generously donated to Southampton based children's cancer charity, Abby's Heroes.

Roynon Dance Swanmore Principal, Miss Sarah, said: "We regularly get involved in charity events all over Hampshire but we are really excited to have raised so much for Abby's Heroes. This is such a worthy cause that is so close to our hearts and we know that the money raised will go directly to many local families in need."

Abby's Heroes is a children's cancer charity which supports children and their families stricken with cancer. It is a particularly personal charity to those at Roynon as Abby’s sister is one of Swanmore’s senior students. In 2013 aged eight, Abby was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Despite managing to be officially declared in remission in May 2014, the cancer returned, until Abby tragically lost her battle in May 2016 aged 11. Abby's Heroes was set up to then help others in the community battle against the disease.
