CELTIC-inspired music from one of the world’s great pipers is promised during two special concerts in Hampshire.

It will be a welcome return for revered musician Carlos Nunez who travels around the world playing venues from acclaimed concert halls with huge symphony orchestras to festivals with his own

band.

Audiences are promised an unforgettable, up close and personal concert at Chapel Sessions, the latest intimate gig at Royal Victoria Country Park on Wednesday August 5.

The date is followed by a second chance to see the musician in action, at the first night of the Wickham Festival the following day in a giant big top.

Carlos Nunez has an undisputed reputation as one of the great pipers. From the Celtic region of northern Spain, he is a multi-instrumentalist, favouring his signature instrument the Gaita or Galician bagpipe.

He also plays pastoral pipes, ocarina, whistle and recorder and is enormously popular throughout Spain, Europe, Latin America and the USA, selling more than 1 million albums worldwide.

Carlos Nunez told Your Entertainment: “It’s a big pleasure [to play in England this

summer].

“Although we’d toured there last year, including The Royal Albert Hall opening for Julio Iglesias, it’s been many years since we played in England in summer.

“After doing many summer festivals in the US these last couple of years and with the experiences lived through the last few albums, we have lots to tell and share with the English audiences!"

Playing with his band, brother Xurxo Nunez on percussion and Pancho Alvarez on Portuguese guitar, they play ‘music that smiles with every note’.

Expect a wonderful evening of Celtic music with a few surprises.

Chapel Sessions are a community led not for profit occasional music series in the acoustically acclaimed Victorian Chapel at Netley.
