The Museum of Army Flying's popular flying to music event will get a new look next year as it comes back bigger and better than ever.

Previously staged in the evening and known as Music in the Air, due to public demand the 2008 event will be held in the day and will be renamed Wallop 08.

Despite the timings and name change, organisers the Museum of Army Flying Development Trust, promise that Wallop 08 will be a bigger and better than ever family event and still with trademark thrilling flying displays.

Wallop 08, which will take place on Saturday, July 26, between 10am and 6pm, will have a "British aviation - the early years" theme and will feature aircraft from the first fifty years of powered flight in the UK.

Aircraft taking to the air for the crowd will include classic aeroplanes from the First and Second World Wars as well as some early British jets. Aircraft scheduled to take part in the two hour flying display include the SE5, Junkers CL, the legendary Supermarine Spitfire, the sleek Mustang, barnstormers, Vickers Vimy, B-17 Sally B, the Tiger Moth Team and jets including the Hawker Hunter.

Before and after the flying display, visitors to Wallop 08 will even have the chance to take to the air themselves for pleasure flights. Middle Wallop was a Battle of Britain fighter airfield and among the event's ground attractions will be classic cars and uniformed re-enactors who will recall the airfield's wartime past. Visitors are encouraged to attend in period dress to add to the atmosphere.

"Since our very first show, Music in the Air has always been a popular event on the social calendar attracting lovers of aircraft and music to Middle Wallop" says Alison Brierly, Marketing Manager at the Museum of Army Flying " and I am sure they will find the new version, Wallop 08, equally thrilling. The flying set to music will now take place in the afternoon and there will be plenty for the audience to see and do for the rest of the day. As it is now a daytime event and there will be lots for children to do too, we look forward to welcoming more families. It will be the perfect summer action-entertainment event and all profits will go to the Museum's development trust so we can continue to tell the story of soldiers in the air."

Visitors can also take advantage of the many and varied food outlets and bars around the arena. Special VIP and corporate hospitality enclosures can also be booked in advance.
