What has been dubbed the world’s strangest brass band visits Hampshire in May.
Mnozil Brass are a brass septet from Vienna that play mixture of musical styles and switch between musical genres. These genres include Austrian drinking and folk songs, jazz, pop, rearrangements of classical pieces, and schlager.
The founding members of the band, which formed in 1992, were graduates of the renowned Vienna College of Music, who met while playing at the Mnozil pub in Vienna.
They will be playing at The Anvil, Basingstoke with their new show entitled Cirque on Thursday May 4 as part of their UK tour.
Their music is presented with a humour that has been described as both absurd and slapstick and some have called them the Monty Python of the musical world. Reviewers have said that the Mnozil Brass have ‘immaculately honed visual comedy and vocal dexterity with a hefty dose of sheer athleticism on trombone, tuba and trumpet thrown in’ and that they ‘have to be seen to be believed’.
The performance is at 7.45pm on Thursday May 4 and tickets are priced £32, which includes a £2 booking fee. For more information or for tickets, call the Anvil Arts box office on 01256 844244, or visit the website anvilarts.org.uk.
