SHE'S the Hampshire teenager who caused a stir when she was asked to sing with Jessie J.

A year after performing a duet of Flashlight at a concert in Bristol, Dannii Murphy is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her childhood musical hero.

The 16-year-old Barton Peveril student from Hedge End has released her debut single Talk, a self-penned song about the break up of a relationship.

While juggling studies in musical theatre and popular music and jazz, Dannii is following her pop dream.

Talk was recorded at River Studios in Totton where she has been working on her music after winning a session there through nationwide singing and dance competition TeenStar.

Dannii is thrilled at the reaction to her debut so far.

She told the Daily Echo: "I've heard so many positive things about it and I couldn't be more thrilled. It's lovely.

"I write all my songs from my own experiences and the experiences of other people around me.

"I'd love to be able to help other people through music .

"Music is a great way of helping you heal from things

"I hope people can relate to it and feel what I feel."

Dannii has been a fan of Jessie J since she was nine-years-old and first saw her in concert in 2013. She now hopes to emulate her idol.

Musical talent obviously runs in the Murphy family.

Dad Martin is well known around Southampton as a talented performer. He has sung with both Michael Buble and Robbie Williams and performs both their hits in various city venues and at charity events.

Talk is taken from Dannii's upcoming album love:deleted and is available now on all the usual platforms.
