THREE staff member from a Basingstoke-based housebuilder were looking to inspire hundreds of pupils at a school to get into the construction industry at a careers event.
The Bovis Homes trio, from the company’s Southern Counties region, attended a Careers Convention at Edgbarrow School, in Crowthorne, Berkshire, to offer first-hand advice about the housebuilding sector and how to join it.
Matt Nicholls, commercial manager; Hollie Lockhart, marketing manager; and Alix Laflin, marketing assistant, took part in the event, which attracted pupils aged from 12 to 18.
Alix said pupils’ enthusiasm to learn more about housebuilding was a good sign for the industry’s future.
She added: “There was a huge turnout and our stand gathered lots of interest, mainly students looking to do an
apprenticeship - but there was also a lot of interest in product design, engineering and architecture.
“We answered questions from pupils of a wide range of ages, who wanted to know all about the roles within a housebuilder, the different departments, and the many routes youngsters can take to develop a career in the industry.”
