I had the honour of knowing Sylvia for 30+years. I worked with Sylvia for 5 years when she worked for BT as a Wayleave Officer a role she loved. I remember before Sylvia retired in 1994 she said to me that she didn't want any fuss but it was too late everything had been ordered flowers & balloons & cakes made. When the day came I'm happy to say she loved all of it and even wanted to take everything home with her … phew I got away with that one!
We stayed in contact and often met up in Southampton or Winchester for lunch.
I went to London with her to The Royal Albert Hall and saw the Royal Marines Band and amazing experience and wonderful memory. We were invited to her 80th Birthday which was lovely.
Sylvia was a Wren and was very proud of that. She loved the National Trust and the Historical Association.
Sylvia was a strong lady with a heart of gold. I will miss her but take strength in the many happy memories I have. xx RIP
