Greed endemic for some MPs

SIR — Mark Oaten, regretfully still our MP, has chosen to brand as racist and ignorant, the thousand-plus voters from the area, who voted BNP in the recent European election (Chronicle, June 11).

As one who does not personally subscribe to the views of the BNP, I can well understand why so many are frustrated enough by the goings-on of our members of Parliament, to vote for the party.

Putting personal preferences and greed above responsibility to those they represent seems endemic among too many of those we have chosen to represent us in Parliament.

It ill behoves Mark Oaten to lecture his constituents on their moral choices.

He can be assured that few of those he castigates will ever vote for his party.
