As one kind Hampshire Chronicle journalist reminded me last week, I promised to blog here every week at the start of the year.
As we all know, resolutions were made to be broken. That’s part of the deal, we commit ourselves to something that will never happen.
I was sat beside the Itchen in a city pub garden during the last week, with someone who told me that nothing ever happens in Winchester, and there are no more opportunities for him around here.
Opportunity occurs everywhere though. It’s more about your mindset, your determination and your drive.
A shop owner told me he thought it was sad that 8,000 people commuted to London every day from Winchester, but what he forgets is 16,000 commute in. I’d say 16,000 is enough to focus on for anyone.
This diverse city is full of the most interesting people you’ll ever meet, and if you spend 10 minutes talking to a few of them, be interested in what they have to say, you’ll find that opportunity.
People may have lived here for thousands of years, but there’s still a bubble of activity if you look hard enough.
