Snapping the City

Photograph of the Author By Steve Cross »

Good art, like good wine and your favourite choice of mayonnaise, is a taste very personal.

At the moment my flat looks like the whitest of mayonnaise, with all walls just whitewashed. I’m determined to change this, without getting cheap art that I could buy in a supermarket.

I want to make it a truly Winchester flat. I set out to be in the city, and I want to be able to see all the views of the city from my sofas (yet to be delivered).

Being fairly adapt with a lens and tripod, I’ve decided to paint my own canvas and take my own pictures of the city.

But what to take? Obviously, the view from St Giles Hill, St Catherine’s Hill and maybe looking down from the Westgate, but what else?

What unique views really spell out “Winchester” to you? I could do with some inspiration, and will then post my shots online.

Does that sound like a fair deal?
