Sunshine makes everyone happy, but it especially suits Winchester.
There’s nothing quite like the old capital of England sat proudly gleaming. It brings smiles, bare legs and dining out onto the streets in a way I’ve yet to see in any other city.
For the past few days, I’ve had lunch down in the Square, proudly admiring what my council tax cheques have paid for - well we might as well enjoy what we’ve paid for.
I even had a work meeting sat on chairs outside a wine bar on Jewry Street. For years, that’s been one of my favourite views of the city. Sat there, cold glass in hand, sun beaming down and watching the world go by.
For me, this marks the start of summer, and the season when our city really comes into it’s own.
Yes, Winchester is packed full during the winter, but this is our tourist season and gets people out of their homes.
This is the time we need to be making hay - whilst the sun shines.
