Rain threatens ODI washout
Predicted heavy rain at Headingley this morning was threatening a washout in the first NatWest Series match between England and Australia.
Puddles had formed on the outfield, with the square under full covers at the scheduled start time of 10:15am.
After an inspection at 1pm, umpires Richard Illingworth and Aleem Dar announced they would make a further check half an hour later.
In order to accommodate a minimum 20-overs-per-side match, play would need to be under way before 4pm.
But it was again raining steadily shortly after 1pm.
